Senior Year - Part 36
You break the kiss and take a step back, breathing deep and solidifying yourself in this moment. You drink it in, wanting to remember it forever. Things with Keerthi have always been different from other girls you’ve liked. With Krithi, for example, you don’t have a ton of history because you’ve known her for about two years. Keerthi, on the other hand, has been one of your closest friends since 6th grade. That’s a long time to constantly be kinda into someone. A whole lot of buildup for moments like this.
She blinks away the dazed expression on her face. “Wow, that got intense.” She says, trying to lighten the mood. You assume she feels awkward about the whole thing. While you don’t know that for sure, it’s what you’ve always allowed yourself to believe in order to prevent anything from ruining your friendship. That’s what prevents moments like this from happening very often, unfortunately. You wish there were a way to know for sure if showing interest in Keerthi would ruin your relationship, but unfortunately the best way to ensure that is to not show interest. Ugh.
Keerthi checks her phone for the time. “It’s getting a bit late, I should probably get going. Thanks for practicing with me though!”
You hug her goodbye. “Of course, anytime. You’re going to do great at your audition, I promise.” It makes you feel really good to support her. You can really see how much she wants this.
When she leaves it’s only 8:00. Keerthi likes to get to bed early sometimes, but with her gone, you have to find something else to do. Or, preferably, someone. You decide to text one of your friends.
